"My favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh."

- JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh Steelers -

"I am not Korean. I’ve never been to Korea, so obviously I’ve never eaten there. I’ve likewise never been to nor eaten in the Koreatowns in New York or Los Angeles (the two largest in the country). I’ve not studied Korean culture or cuisine. I’ve eaten Korean fare a handful of times locally over the years. So — rare admission from a critic ahead! — it’s not my place to say if it Mr. Chough’s food is either authentic or traditional.

But I can say that based on a pair of meals at Soju, this is well-prepared, tasty fare of a high quality.

And if you don’t believe me, just ask JuJu."

“My dinner companions and I all thoroughly enjoyed our meal last weekend — the grilled meats and katsu curry were hits. Soju has a solid bar program with a promising cocktail menu, which features an easy-to-drink selection of vividly colored soju-based cocktails and an excellent beer list. I appreciate Chough’s attention-to-detail in preparing rice, too. What too often is a second thought is given as much consideration as the rest of the dishes.”

“A casual spot with great drinks, Soju offers Korean classics, poke and is already drawing a crowd.”

- Pittsburgh Post-Gazette -

"Soju has a creative cocktail program featuring herbal infusions and unusual ingredients such as yogurt, all with a distinctly Korean flair. I’m particularly fond of the Purple Rain, a cocktail that pays homage to two of my favorite things: Prince and gin; the drink also introduced me to a new love, lavender pea-flower soju. The back bar includes something for everyone; in addition to the selection of soju, there also is craft beer from sought-after breweries such as Stillwater and Evil Twin."

"Amazing find! Loved the Poke! Great space and the chef made a point to visit the table to say hello and thanks! Class!”

“I think that this is my favorite Korean restaurant in pgh. The kalbi is addicting and delicious!   Also tried the kimchijeon, chicken katsu, and bibimbap. All delicious.  I can't say enough good things about this place!!"
